The first Christmas and New Year in your new home can be really special especially if you have spent years saving and finally are in your perfect home. The time is here to enjoy every minute of it and you might want to show off your new home to family and friends which is totally understandable. Here are some tips on making the most of the first Christmas in your new home:

Go all out! Choose your dream tree and outdoor decorations as this is an exciting time and there is nothing better than picking up things for your new home and knowing this is where you will be settled for years to come.

Decorate your home the way you have always wanted to even if it is outlandish and not the norm. Remember you couldn’t do this before as you didn’t have the right opportunity to do it. Now is the time to put up a White Christmas tree or decorate with less than traditional festive ornaments. It is your home after all.

Start your own traditions and don’t stick to the rules as it is your home after all. Get up late on Christmas Day or get up super early. Spend Christmas Eve nibbling and playing games if that is what makes you happy. Think about the traditions you want to do and start them right now as then they’ll become a regular occurrence.

Relax and enjoy the festive season in your new home as this has been a long time coming and you deserve your time to enjoy what you have worked so hard for. If you are cooking Christmas dinner for the first time you might need some help and there is nothing wrong with asking family to help out. You can still take control and run your kitchen but let people do the trimmings, dessert or starter. Even the drinks can be a huge help.

Have a party and enjoy the new year as again, this is probably the first time you have been able to have a party on your own terms but also having it in your new home will make it a real special occasion!
